What's This For?
The Contract - click it to read it
Why are you doing this?To gain financial freedom! To become internet phenomenons! Really, it is to take a good, hard look at our financial situations, and perhaps save some money along the way. Plus, we are both competitive, so it works out well. And, honestly, we want to sell some merch and make a little money.
Why 4 months?
We could easily sacrifice and scrape by for a week or even a month without have to make real lifestyle changes. 4 months however, is a long enough time that we will have to make changes and, we are hoping, develop habits that will help us long term. Christmas was also a factor. Every year, we feel the pressure to spend beyond our means. Well, this year we can't! Jan 1 is traditionally a time for reflection and change.
Why Carrie and Elisa?
We are in very similar situations. Career-wise, stage of life, singleness, age, etc. We have roughly the same measly salary, and are trying to make a go at living without selling our souls to the corporate machine. We are also the only two people we know who are willing to do crazy things like this!
Why don't you blog on Sundays?
We are Christians, Bitches!
Why not do this privately?
Let's face it, our generation does nothing privately! Plus, this will give us some pressure. We also wanted to share our experience because we know that there are other women (and men) in similar situations, and know that it feels lonely and like you can't handle life. We want to shed some light on that, and give some helpful advice and tips along the way.
Can I send you money?
YES YOU CAN! Email us at cheapwomen@gmail.com for info on how.
How did you come up with this idea?
Like many of the best ideas are hatched... over a couple of beers at a local watering hole.
What are the rules?
Please see the contract. It is all explained there.
What is not included?
Rent and car notes, as well as student loans. These are things that are static and hard to change in only 4 months. In addition, any unexpected expense or financial windfall exceeding $500 is open to discussion.
How are you this cool?
Good question. It is natural, I guess.
